Apple M3 Ultra 2025:

Apple has announced the M3 Ultra chip as the latest addition to its Apple Silicon processor lineup, delivering a quantum leap in performance and efficiency over previous generations.

This chip is based on the advanced ARM architecture and targets professional users who need massive processing power, whether in editing 5K videos, developing advanced applications, or performing complex calculations such as artificial intelligence and deep learning.

Architecture and Design:

This chip is considered Apple’s latest release in the field of computer processors, as it represents a qualitative leap in performance and efficiency. This chip is based on Apple’s innovative UltraFusion technology.

It connects the two M3 Max chips via more than 10,000 high-speed connections, enabling inter-processor bandwidth of more than 2.5 TB/s with low latency, making the M3 Ultra chip feel like a single software chip.

This chip features up to 32 CPU cores, including 24 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores, delivering up to 1.5x the performance of the M2 Ultra chip.

It also features a graphics processing unit that includes up to 80 cores, making it twice as fast as the M2 Ultra chip.

Additionally, the Neural Engine has been enhanced to include 32 cores, enhancing AI and machine learning capabilities.

The chip supports up to 512GB of unified memory, the most ever in a PC, with memory bandwidth in excess of 800GB/s.

It also comes with Thunderbolt 5 ports that provide data transfer speeds of up to 120GB/s, more than twice the speed of Thunderbolt 4.

With this advanced architecture and innovative design, this new chip delivers superior performance in graphics processing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning applications, making it an ideal choice for professionals and creators who require high performance and power efficiency.

AI engine, performance up to 50 trillion operations per second, contributing to the improvement of machine learning applications.

It features high energy efficiency; despite the high performance, power consumption is lower compared to competitors thanks to Apple’s integrated design.

Performance vs. competitors:

This chip offers significant improvements over its predecessor, the M2 Ultra, in Geekbench 6.4 tests, achieving 3,262 points in single-core performance and 28,333 points in multi-core performance, indicating a 20-30 percent increase, respectively.

When compared to the AMD Ryzen AI Max 395 chip, Apple’s processor is 9% better in single-core performance and 33% better in multi-core performance.

However, it should be noted that some competing AMD-powered machines offer powerful specs at a lower price, which could make them an attractive option for users looking for value for money.

Overall, this new chip offers improved performance over its predecessors and some competitors, especially in tasks that require multi-core processing and high graphics performance. However, users should consider the potential cost and benefits when making a purchasing decision.
